As discussed in previous news and blog articles, there is a big difference between “self-certifying” compliance to ISO 17025 versus actually obtaining a valid, reputable accreditation that meets ISO 17025 requirements; especially from a highly regarded accreditation body like A2LA. That’s why Q-PLUS Labs maintains our all-important accreditation at all times. ISO 17025 accreditation represents the highest level of excellence a laboratory can maintain for certification, making it the industry’s “gold standard” for competence among testing & calibration laboratories. Accredited labs undergo rigorous assessments by accredited bodies every two years. Q-PLUS Labs consistently maintains ISO 17025 accreditation, as well as ISO 9001 registration, ISO 13485, and AS9100 certifications.
What some customers might not know is that each year, although accreditation is granted for a two-year period, laboratories must maintain this high standard and be “reaffirmed” by the accrediting body each year; in this case, A2LA. Albeit not as vigorous as the complete on-site assessment process conducted every two years, labs must still meet A2LA requirements and confirm standards are being met. This ensures that Labs with ISO 17025 accreditation continue to meet the high standards for ISO 17025 at all times.
